Pastel is one of the most versatile of all painting mediums and allows for many corrections and layers to build up to beautiful paintings. Students will learn how to overcome the color and compositional limitations of their photos. One of the most important elements of a painting is its composition; also, landscape painting requires a basic knowledge of perspective and distance. We will focus on these elements and how they are used to make landscape paintings, including those with buildings and street scenes, look believable and appealing. Students will do one or two paintings from their own photographs, preferably including a building, street scene or landscape which includes various elements from foreground to distance. There will be plenty of personal attention given to each student.
