Students will learn about the types of silk paints to use for a variety of projects, best places to buy silk and dyes.The instructor will demonstrate a free form technique on a silk scarf and the students then will choose their colors and paint a scarf. They will then set the colors with an iron. The instructor will demonstrate a simple technique to paint flowers on a scarf that is done using a microwave oven to set the dyes.
The instructor will show students how to stretch silk onto a frame and an easy way to make frames on their own. They will then choose from a variety of patterns the one they want and transfer the pattern to a silk scarf. They will then use instructors frames to stretch the scarf and prepare it to paint. Then students will paint the scarves in their chosen pattern or picture. We will then prepare pieces of silk to be painted the next day. These pieces may be mounted and framed as you would as you would any other painting.
Day 3: Students will paint two or three paintings on silk today depending on how quickly they work or how complicated their references are. They may bring in their own references now that they know what to look for.
At the end of each day we will have a show and tell and photo op!
This workshop is for all levels. Beginners and up!
Students that have the following are asked to please bring with them the first day.

- Blow dryer
Alls students are asked to bring a notebook and pen to take notes, and a packed lunch.
